Update: Disney has officially announced a statement saying that A Bug’s Land will close Late Summer 2018 to make way for this new “Marvel Land.” “It’s Tough to be a Bug” has closed as of March 19, 2018.
It’s no secret that there are A LOT of changes going on in Anaheim right now. Disney California Adventure is seeing a massive overhaul.
First there was a complete transformation of Tower of Terror to what is now Guardians of the Galaxy : Mission Breakout.
Next, we started seeing lots of construction to prepare for the additions of the new “Marvel Land” and Star Wars : Galaxy’s Edge.
Now with only a few days left until California Screamin’ (as well as other attractions and restaurants) will be closing in preparation for their transformation into Pixar Pier and 3 other themed neighborhoods, it has one thinking, “What else could Disney California Adventure be closing next?”
Well, rumors are going around that A Bug’s Land could be the next victim of this massive transformation.
Now, I’m saying COULD because, although I’ve heard the rumors that are floating around, I have yet to find a direct quote from The Walt Disney Company themselves. (If you do know of where I can find confirmation, please let me know in the comments!)
So, what is the rumor?
It is rumored that in preparation for “Marvel Land”, Disney California Adventure will have to close attractions (like A Bug’s Land) and take away some of the parking lot surrounding this expansion. But, as said earlier, there is no direct quote from Disney except Bob Chapek (chairman of Disney’s parks and resorts) saying, “We keep moving forward and trying new things.”
What he means by that, though, is anyone’s guess. For all we know, he could simply be talking about the changes that have already released to the public.
So, as of right now, the rumors of Disney tearing down a Bug’s Land is just that…a rumor…
