The holidays have a magical way of inspiring us to roll up our sleeves, preheat the oven, and fill the house with the smell of freshly-baked treats. Thanksgiving may be all about pumpkin pie, but Christmas? It’s all about the milk and cookies! And this year, I’m taking my holiday baking up a notch.
When I found this adorable Mickey-shaped cookie recipe in my Disney Eats cookbook, I knew it would be perfect for Santa—and for adding a little extra fun to our holiday traditions.

When Baking Doesn’t Go by the Book
The Disney Eats cookbook is one of my favorites for quick and easy recipes – especially when I want to whip up something magical with the kids. There’s colorful illustrations and fun, Disney-themed recipes, so it’s a great cookbook for anyone baking with little ones. None of the recipes are too complicated or require any fancy equipment. So, it’s great for sparking ideas on what holiday treats we should make next.
However, for this projet, I really wanted a homemade cookie rather than store brought cookie dough.
That’s when I turned to Tasty’s Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe—a fan-favorite recipe with a whopping 94% “would bake again” rating. With numbers like that, I figured even I, a far-from-perfect baker, couldn’t mess it up (too badly).
That said – I did have one small worry. How would a soft, chewy cookie hold up on a milk bottle? Would it have been wiser to go with a crispier recipe? Probably. But, my family prefers a softer cookie. And to be honest — Santa deserves the best. And nothing beats a chewy chocolate chip cookie!

Recipe: Mickey-Themed Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies
Here’s what you’ll need to make these magical treats. (Don’t forget to chill your dough overnight for that rich, toffee-like flavor!)
Ingredients (Makes 12 cookies)
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ¾ cup packed brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- 8 oz chocolate chunks (I used semi-sweet chocolate chunks)

Additional Tools
- Disney Eats Recipe Book
- Reusable Glass Milk Bottles
- Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse Cookie Cutters (any medium-sized cutter will do!)
- Paper straws (bonus points for Mickey-themed designs)
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Whisk together the sugars, salt, and butter until smooth.
- Add the egg and vanilla, whisking until light ribbons form.
- Sift in the flour and baking soda, then fold gently with a spatula.
- Mix in chocolate chunks. Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes (overnight is best).
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C).
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll dough into balls and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until edges are lightly browned. Make sure they’ll be big enough for the cookie cutter.
- Cool completely, then use a Mickey-shaped cookie cutter to shape your cookies.
- If you’re putting the coookies on a glass bottle, poke a hole through the center of each cookie using a straw.
- Insert a festive straw and place the cookie on top of a milk bottle filled with your favorite milk. Place additional cookies on a plate.
Pro Tip: Assemble your cookies and milk bottles shortly before placing them on the table for Santa. This prevents breaking or crumbly messes.
