The Future of Epcot

August 27, 2019

Epcot, as you know it, will be changing. And the Disney community, as a whole, doesn’t know what to think of it.

Disney hasn’t been quiet about their plans to do a massive overhaul of Epcot.

They’ve given us concept art, press conferences, and we had a whole year to say goodbye to Illuminations: Reflections of Earth, Epcot’s nighttime show.

But, while they’ve been pretty forthcoming about a lot of the changes that we will be seeing over the next few years, there were still some things that they held back from telling us…until now.

So, here’s what we learned about the future of Epcot from the 2019 D23 Expo.

“Every inch of every park should be magical, and that’s why I’m so excited about this transformation,”

4 Neighborhoods

Guests are already aware of one of Epcot’s neighborhoods already – World Showcase.

But, three more neighborhoods are being constructed. Each will have their own distinct themes and purpose. But, most importantly, each will have one thing in common – the link between the world and its people.

World Celebration, World Nature and World Discovery will soon join World Showcase to make up the brand new Epcot.

World Celebration

  • Entrance Plaza
    • Paying homage to the origins of Epcot, a reimagined fountain, new pathways and sweeping green spaces will beautify the entrance, once again. As someone who has seen the original fountain, I am excited to see a version of my childhood Epcot coming back.

Additionally, Disney will be bringing in new technology. Guests will follow a magical “story light” that we are told will bring the entire experience to life in dynamic ways.
