New Car Entrance At Disney’s Hollywood Studios – Construction Update

October 29, 2018

If you’ve been to Hollywood Studios lately, you can see that the whole Parking Area is a complete mess!

Disney has big plans in the works to make getting to the Park more convenient and more efficient. These plans include: expanding parking, adjusting tram lanes, making room for additional bus parking, and making sure it all works with the Brand New Disney Skyliner.

While I have no doubt that it will all look beautiful once it’s all finished, it’s just a mess right now.

While this is going on, be prepared for a much longer walk to the Entrance and possible dirt flying at you during your walk. It was pretty windy the day we visited last month, so this made for a less than magical experience.

But, there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Starting November 8, 2018, there will be a new entrance for vehicles.

As someone who always uses the Free Disney Transportation, I can not speak from experience about the hassle it has been to drive and park at Hollywood Studios. But, after hearing comments from some other Travel Agents regarding this issue, they seem optimistic for this change.

According to our Travel Agent Website:

Beginning Nov. 8, 2018, [Guests] driving to Disney’s Hollywood Studios will use the new entrance and exit located off of Osceola Parkway. The current main entrance off World Drive and Osceola Parkway will be repurposed for Disney Cast Members only and the satellite entrance on Buena Vista Drive will be dedicated to buses.

There will be plenty of updated road signs throughout Walt Disney World to navigate the new roads and Parking Lot. If you’re coming from southbound Victory Way, you will also find a connecting road leading to the park.

And when in doubt, just follow the crowds. Someone will know where they’re going.

Why all the construction surrounding Hollywood Studios?

2019 marks the 30th Anniversary of Hollywood Studios. While it’s not known what Disney has in store for this celebration, we can only assume that Disney will want to have all this work finished before the celebration. Now that it’s nearing the end of 2018, we hope that all the construction will be wrapping up soon, making the Park easier to visit.

The construction isn’t isolated to outside the Parks either. Toy Story Land may now be open, but there is still plenty of construction in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, which isn’t set to open until the end of Fall 2019.

Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, a Brand New ride that is replacing The Great Movie Ride is also under construction inside the Chinese Theater. However, aside from some concept art, we don’t have any other information on this ride. We don’t even have an idea as to when it will open, based on the fact that this ride is completely indoors. I would love to see how the changes are progressing.

Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy, a Brand New show, is also coming some time in Early 2019. Located near Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, you will come face-to-face with Lightning McQueen in this first-of-its-kind new show. Again, no additional information has been announced, but it sounds like it’s going to be a great addition to the Park.

With all the changes going on around Hollywood Studios, are you excited for the new changes? Do you think the new Entrance will make Parking easier?
