Disney is taking things to the sky once again. It’s not a new concept. If you remember, there used to be a skyway in the Magic Kingdom, appropriately named the Magic Kingdom Skyway. It connected Fantasyland and Tomorrowland before it was removed in 1999. Recently, there was talk about bringing the Skyway back, but instead of it being more of an attraction, as it once was, this new reimagined Skyway will be a form of transportation. It will connect Disney’s Pop Century, Art of Animation, and Caribbean Beach resorts to Epcot (via the International Gateway) and Hollywood Studios. Hopefully this will ease some congestion on the other forms of Transportation (I’m talking about you, Disney Buses!)

Each section of the Skyliner will have a different theme and a different look.
The Disney Skyliner station at International Gateway at Epcot will be will be covered with metal and glass canopies, inspired by Epcot’s European Pavilions. You will also have a chance to view the World Showcase from above, giving you a bird’s eye view of the World Showcase.
The Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort station will serve as the hub for the Disney Skyliner. This station is inspired by the open air village marketplaces of the Caribbean. Guests will be able to transfer gondola routes to reach their destination, or you can just sit and admire the Resort for awhile.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios will fit in with the park’s main entrance and bus stations. Guests will travel to Hollywood Studios from Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort station. Make sure you look out the window to see iconic attractions, like The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. I sure do love that ride! 🙂
Disney’s Pop Century Resort and Disney’s Art of Animation Resort will share a Disney Skyliner station, which makes sense since they are located right next to each other. The design of these gondolas will match the look and feel of these two Resorts. Enjoy the view of these two resorts as you travel over Hourglass Lake.
The gondolas will travel along Buena Vista Drive, hopefully reducing some of the traffic on that road, as well.

If you notice on the map, there is a Resort called Disney’s Riviera Resort that is included on the Skyliner Route. What is the Riviera Resort? Well, Disney Vacation Club will welcome its newest resort, which will be build near Epcot. It is set to open in the Fall of 2019. But, we will have more information on this resort at a later time…
Do you remember the old Skyliner? Are you happy they’re bringing it back?
