Pixar Pier Now Open!

June 23, 2018

It’s what everyone had been waiting for…the opening of Pixar Pier at Disney California Adventure.

Four new neighborhoods are ready to be discovered. Just as promised, these new neighborhoods include Incredibles Park, Toy Story Boardwalk, Pixar Promenade and Inside Out Headquarters.

With Pixar Pier opening, it also means  that the highly anticipated Incredicoaster (formerly California Screamin’) is also officially back open for Guests to ride. I’ve been seeing some pretty mixed reviews on the new overlay, but one thing remains…this is one heck of a great coaster, with or without the Incredibles!

Also getting a new Overlay is the Pixar Pal-A-Round (formerly Mickey’s Fun Wheel). I am beyond excited that the giant Mickey is still on the Ferris Wheel. There are just some things that should not be messed with.

The Pixar Pal-A-Round has redesigned gondolas that now represent different characters from Pixar Movies. Personally, I like how these were redesigned. They match the new area while keeping the Mickey’s Fun Wheel look in tact.

Getting me on this ride? Now, that’s another story! I will ride the biggest and fastest coasters. I will drop and swing from just about anything you show me. But, Ferris Wheels…something about them just freaks me out.

But Pixar Pier isn’t finished yet…

In 2019, Emotional Whirlwind will be joining Inside Out Headquarters. I know what you’re thinking. “Isn’t that just Flik’s Flyers from A Bug’s Land?” Ok, if you want to be that person… It looks like as soon as A Bug’s Land officially closes, sometime in late Summer 2018 to make way for a new “Marvel Land”, the ride will FLY to its new home where it will get some new paint and a complete redesign to match its new home in Inside Out.

Also coming in 2019 is Jessie’s Critter Carousel. I haven’t seen any concept art for this new ride, but the fact that Disney is calling this ride “reimagined”, as well as calling it a Classic Boardwalk Carousel, I feel comfortable saying that it looks as though King Triton’s Carousel will be getting an overhaul to turn it into Jessie’s Critter Carousel. Inspired by  “Woody’s Roundup” from “Toy Story  2,” this Carousel is sure to be rootin’ tootin’ fun.

If you’re visiting Pixar Pier, let us know what you think of it! And if you have any pictures you’d love to share with us, all the better! 🙂
