Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party – Tickets And Tips For Making It The Best Time Of Your Life

May 10, 2017

It’s that time of year again! Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party tickets go on sale today! Fall is such a great time to go to Disney World. Just a few weeks ago Disney World announced their dates for Free Dining. So, it’s highly possible to get free dining AND go to one the biggest parties of the year. YAY! You saved so much money from free dining, why not get tickets to the party…right?

A separate Special Event Admission Ticket is required if you’re going to be in the Magic Kingdom past 7 pm. The party runs from 7 PM to Midnight on the dates stated below. However, Magic Kingdom allows those with tickets to the party to enter the park at 4 PM, so even if you only attend the party, you still get a whole 8 hours in the park. You will be given a wristband and a small treat bag when you show your Ticket. Those who are in the park without a Special Event Ticket, will be politely be asked to exit the park at 7PM, when the Party officially begins.

Best time to attend

If you’re looking for the best time to attend the party, I suggest going in August or September. The prices go up as it gets closer to Halloween, so you save a few dollars by going early. It’s also hard for some to get in the Halloween Spirit until October hits, so by going early, you also get lower crowds. Since Fastpasses are not available during the party, this is a great time to ride your favorite rides with lower wait times.

We got super lucky during our last trip. When we were booking our fastpasses for our trip, we missed out getting fastpasses to Peter Pan’s Flight, so we kept checking My Disney Experience while we were in Magic Kingdom. I believe the lowest we ever saw was still about 90 minutes (and we went during their “slow” time). Our last night at Disney, we attended Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. It was so much fun! But, even then, the line was longer than we wanted to wait. We watched the first parade, so by the time the 2nd parade was set to begin (about 11:15 PM), families with small children were starting to leave and those who missed the first parade were heading over in that direction to go watch. This helped tremendously with the wait times because when we checked My Disney Experience again, the wait was 5 MINUTES! We RAN to Peter Pan before the line got any longer. I almost had wished the wait time was a little longer because the interactive queue is amazing, but we were so over-the-moon happy that we could basically walk right onto the ride that it didn’t seem to matter.

Dressing Up

Disney has rules against adults wearing costumes in the parks, which is why many Disney Fans Disneybound while they visit the parks. What is Disneybound? Basically, it means that you pay homage to your favorite characters using your everyday clothes. Disneybounders (Is this a word?) use color, accessories, etc to make reference to characters without actually looking like the characters. There are so many great outfits on Pinterest, if you need ideas.

However, for parties, they encourage everyone of all ages to dress up and have fun. That doesn’t mean that you should go all out and find the biggest, poofiest Princess dress you can find. If you can pass for a Cast Member, then that is a big no-no. Here are Disney’s guidelines on dressing up at the parks, but it’s pretty simple. As long as your clothing is family friendly, not offensive, and you do not carry anything resembling a weapon, you should be fine.

You should also remember that Fall in Florida is still very warm. While kids look adorable in Halloween Costumes, they will get hot very quickly if they’re completely covered up. You should also take into consideration how long it will take you to get in and out of rides due to your costume. Thinking back at our last Halloween Party, I remember a group of cute girls dressed up as characters from Inside Out. They also wore the cutest tutus. But, I also remembered seeing them getting in and out of rides, fiddling with the tutus as they got in and stuffing them in whatever space they could to keep it inside the ride. That’s why we tried our hand at Disneybounding and dressed up as the Fantastic Four. We didn’t have big bulky costumes weighing us down, so we were able to enjoy the night without overheating.

Entertainment

Of course, it wouldn’t be a party without the entertainment…and Disney spares no expense.

Trick or Treating – What kid wouldn’t want to say that they went trick or treating at Disney World. Disney has barrels and barrels of candy to hand out at these parties! So much sugar! You will be given a special map that marks out the different candy stations around the park.

Mickey’s Boo-To-You Halloween Parade – Led by the Headless Horseman, watch your favorite characters sing and dance in Halloween Costumes in this 20-minute parade.

While it does feature gravediggers, the Haunted Mansion, and Villains , Disney makes it light and fun as not to scare younger viewers. This is also the chance to see our favorite characters dressed up in their own Halloween Costumes.

Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular – Who doesn’t love the movie, Hocus Pocus? Taking place in front of Cinderella’s Castle, the Sanderson Sisters come out for All Hollows Eve with their villainous friends, to create mischief, as they often do. The sisters are exclusive to the Halloween Party, but unfortunately they are not available for Meet and Greets.
