When it comes to planning a vacation, it’s easy to think that cheaper is always better. With so many booking sites and online travel deals at your fingertips, it can feel like you’re just a few clicks away from the perfect itinerary.
But here’s the real question: Is booking your own vacation really the best way to go?
Recently, I held a fun contest where I asked all of you—my loyal readers—to send in your best travel-related questions. And wow, did you all deliver! I honestly thought I could answer everything in one post, but your questions were so thoughtful, insightful, and downright amazing that I knew I had to give each one the attention it deserves. So, thank you for being so engaged and curious!
After some thought, I’ve decided to break the top five questions into their own posts. If you’ve been following me for a while, you know I’m all about transparency and giving you the real scoop. No gatekeeping here! I want you to have all the information you need to make the best decisions for you and your family.
So, let’s jump right into the first question in this new Q&A series: Is it cheaper to book my own vacation?

Is It Cheaper to Book Your Own Vacation?
In today’s world, online travel agencies, like Expedia or Kayak, make it feel like you’re only a few clicks away from the best vacation ever. But here’s the thing—there’s a big difference between booking a vacation and planning a vacation.
Booking is just the beginning. Planning? That’s the hardest part. But, it’s also where the magic happens.

Saving Time vs Spending Time
Sure, you can book your own vacation. But here’s something most people don’t realize: suppliers already factor a Travel Advisor’s commission into their pricing. That means when you book on your own, you’re essentially paying for a service you’re not getting—and honestly, that’s frustrating!
Did you know the average person spends at least 20 hours sifting through flight options, hotel reviews, and endless “Top 10 things to do” lists before finally hitting that “book” button? Dreaming of a Disney vacation? That time easily doubles! And let’s not forget the stress of trying to make sure you understand all the changes Disney decides to make.
Sure – pushing that “book” button seems simple. But, when you consider all the tasks that need to be managed, those “few simple clicks” start to feel a lot more complicated.
I blame my parents for instilling this in me, but I truly believe that if I’m paying for a service, I should get to use it.
When you work with me, I’m not just booking your trip. I’m providing you with the service you’re already paying for. In addition to answering all of your questions, I take care of the details so you can spend your valuable time enjoying life, rather than glued to your laptop, second-guessing your choices.
I get to know your needs, your preferences, and what matters most to your family, so you get the perfect itinerary—without the overwhelm.

Cost vs. Value
Here’s something to think about: How often have you called your cheapest vacation the best vacation you’ve ever been on?
Now, don’t get me wrong—I’m not suggesting you need to take out a second mortgage to have a great vacation. But, planning a vacation isn’t always about getting the lowest price—it’s about getting the most value for your money.
Let’s face it – those flashy deals are misleading. They often come with hidden fees, unexpected charges, and fine print that can quickly turn a “bargain” into a headache. Pretty sneaky, right?
When you work with me, I take the guesswork out of the equation. I provide transparent proposals, so you know exactly what you’re paying for—no surprises.
Trust me – I know how easy it is to focus solely on finding the cheapest option. Vacations aren’t cheap! But, ignoring the extra fees that often don’t get added into those “bargain” deals – like shuttle fees, parking fees, resort charges, or mandatory gratuities – add up quickly. And suddenly, that “great deal” is more of a headache than it was worth.
With me, you’re not just booking a trip; you’re investing in an experience that delivers true value. This means more than “beating the online price” – it’s about selecting the right options that fit your budget while ensuring your family creates unforgettable memories.
So yes – sometimes my proposals can’t match some of the “cheaper” vacation options you’re finding on the internet. But, believe me when I tell you that choosing the best option from the beginning can save you a lot in the long run—both financially and emotionally.
Remember – you deserve a vacation that not only meets your expectations but exceeds them.

The Stress-Free Difference
At the end of the day, planning a vacation should be fun, not feel like a full-time job. Trust me, you’re busy enough as it is.
When you work with me, I take the stress off your plate so you can focus on what really matters—spending time with the people you love.
Whether it’s scoring those hard-to-get dining reservations at Disney, finding that perfect adult-only or family-friendly resort, or giving you tips to avoid tourist traps, I’ve got your back every step of the way.
So, is it cheaper to book your own vacation? Maybe. But does cheaper always mean better? Absolutely not.
You deserve more than just a good deal. You deserve a great experience.
