The Sunshine Flyer – A New Airport Shuttle Service In Orlando

October 23, 2022

There’s a new airport shuttle service in town. And it’s name is The Sunshine Flyer.

With Disney’s Magical Express long gone, Walt Disney World Guests have been asking me, “How will I get to my Walt Disney World Resort?”

I’ve already given you 5 Alternatives to Disney’s Magical Express. But, Disney vacations are all about the theming, right? And The Sunshine Flyer knows a thing or two about that.

The Sunshine Flyer Theming

Buses are themed around old-fashioned passenger cars and train engines. Some staff are also all decked out in Conductor uniforms to stay on point with the theme.

There’s currently10 airport shuttles in the fleet and each have an original design. If you’re curious of what your airport shuttle would look like, you can see the whole fleet here.

While purple is my favorite color, I have to admit, I love the passenger cars. There’s something about the silhouettes of the passengers in the windows that just makes me laugh.

Which one is your favorite? Scroll down to the comments and let me know!

Collaboration With Make-A-Wish

Since the company began in early 2022, they’ve always had a mission to do what they can to support Make-A-Wish.

In honor of Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary, 50% of their ticket sales for the first 50 days of service was donated to Make-a-wish Central and Northern Florida. During that time, The Sunshine Flyer was able to grant 30 wishes and almost $300,000 to children with serious illnesses.

In addition to their donations, they’ve make it their promise to always provide complimentary rides to all Make-a-wish children and their families.

Pricing

I get it…not everyone cares about theming. So, let’s talk about what you’re really here for…the prices. How does The Sunshine Flyer compare to other transportation options such as: Mears, Uber, Lyft, and Taxis?

You’d be surprised that they’re pretty competitive in their pricing. If you’re traveling with a large number of people, the price definitely adds up.

But, since they began service in January 2022, they’ve already begun to lower their prices and offer deals in order to service more Guests.

Furthermore, they’ve also increased the age of child tickets from 10 years old to 12 years old. So, while Disney may consider children an adult once they turn 10, The Sunshine Flyer does not.

Sunshine Flyer Ticket PricesPer AdultPer Child (ages 3-12)
One-Way$16$10
Roundtrip$32$20

They also ran a successful campaign this summer where kids rode for free. So, ask your Travel Agent if there is currently a deal going on to save you money on your next trip.

Which Hotels and Resorts Do Sunshine Flyer Provide Service To?

You see, this is perhaps the only downside…at least for the time being. As the company evolves, it’s possible that they will start being able to bring Guests to other area Hotels.

But, for now, they currently only provide service to Walt Disney World owned Resorts, the Swan and Dolphin Resorts, and Shades of Green, a Hotel specifically for military families.

How Are Their Reviews?

As with any new company, there are going to be some hiccups at the beginning. As a result, reviews were a bit all over the place.

But, now they they’ve got some experience under their belts, the reviews have been more positive. Guests love the cheaper prices and staff has been nice.

They even have 4 out of 5 stars on sites like Trip Advisor.

From a Travel Agent point of view, customer service is prompt and helpful. If you don’t like the time they give you for arrival or departure, just let your Travel Agent know.

We do all of the negotiating for you, so you can continue having fun on your vacation. If there’s space on another shuttle, there’s a good chance we can work something out.
