Ever since the Great Movie Ride closed down in Hollywood Studios on August 13, 2017, Guests have been hearing about Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway.
But, it wasn’t until this week that we learned that the first ride to be every dedicated to Mickey Mouse, will also be making its way to Disneyland.
Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway will open in Mickey’s Toontown, at the Disneyland Park, in 2022.
Mickey And Minnie’s Runaway Railway Coming To Disneyland
It is hard to believe that there has never been an attraction dedicated to Mickey Mouse before now.
Disneyland opened its gates in 1955, and Mickey has always been the company’s mascot.
Here is what we know…
Exactly like it’s twin in Florida, this brand new attraction will place you inside a wacky and unpredictable cartoon world.
Since the ride was announced at the D23 Expo in 2017, we’ve heard a little bit about this brand new dark ride.
But, in Disney style, there is also a fair bit of secrecy…
But, despite all the secrecy, we do know that Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway will be using the trackless ride system.
As the attraction name suggests, your train will take you through zany, out-of-control adventure filled with surprising twists and turns. Of course, with Goofy as your engineer, we wouldn’t expect anything else.
The attraction will have an original story and a lovable theme song that no one has ever seen yet.
Disney states they are using state-of-the-art technologies and dazzling visual effects to create an immersive “2 and half D” experience.
Disney best describes this technology as “3D without needing to use special glasses.”
Disney Imagineers have confirmed that Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway will have more hidden Mickeys than any existing ride!
It may not sound like much, but Hidden Mickeys have become so popular, there are books dedicated to searching and finding Hidden Mickeys.
Some are easy to find, but there are also some that are really Hidden. So, we are interested to see just how hidden these Mickey’s will be.
