Star Wars fans will be delighted to know that Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will be opening ahead of schedule.
While the whole land won’t be open for the Grand Opening, pushing the dates up will give Guests a peak into Disney’s most immersive land ever created ahead of schedule.
Due to the high anticipation, Disney has made the decision to open in Phases. This plan gives Guests an earlier peek into Disney’s most immersive land ever created.
I don’t know about you, but we’re fine with that.
Disney Sets Opening Dates For Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

Disneyland Resort
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will open up on May 31, 2019 in Disneyland.
Phase One
For Phase One, you will be able to take the controls as you board Millenium Falcon: Smugglers Run.
Phase One allows you to sample galactic food and beverages, shop around the Galaxy, and live your own Star Wars story as you explore Batuu.
Due to the extremely high interest, between May 31 and June 23, 2019, Guests will need a valid Theme Park Ticket and will be required to make a no-cost Reservation to access the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
During these dates, Resort Hotel Guests will receive a designated reservation to visit Batuu during their stay (one reservation per Guest).
A valid Theme Park Ticket is also required to enter Galaxy’s Edge.
Phase Two
Phase Two will begin later this year (dates have not yet been released).
Star Wars: Rise of the Resisitance is being called “the most ambitious, immersive, and advanced attraction ever imagined.” This attraction will open during this Phase.
Because of the popularity, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will NOT be included in Extra Magic Hour or Magic Morning at Disneyland. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will be open during normal Park Operating hours only.

Walt Disney World – Hollywood Studios
Phase One
Phase One in Disney’s Hollywood Studios is set to open up on August 29, 2019.
Reservations will not be offered or required to experience Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Florida.
The only requirement to visit this brand new Land is a valid Theme Park Ticket. However, capacity is limited, so arriving early will be key.
There will also be Extra Magic Hours available to Guests staying at a Walt Disney World Resort. Be sure to keep an eye on My Disney Experience as the day approaches for times and details.
Phase Two
Just like Disneyland, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is set to open later in the year. This date has not yet been released.

Fastpasses
Aside from the opening dates, the biggest question is when we can start grabbing FastPasses for these brand new Attractions.
Disney MaxPass in Disneyland, and FastPass+ in Walt Disney World will not initially offer Fastpasses for Millenium Falcon: Smugglers Run.
There is no date as to when FastPasses will be offered.

Annual Passholder/DVC Preview Events
Annual Passholders and DVC Members sometimes have the advantage of seeing these new Lands before the rest of the Disney community.
At the time, Disneyland is not planning to have any previews before opening.
As for as Walt Disney World, there isn’t much information. There is a possibility of preview events. But, nothing has been released yet.
