I once read a statistic that said the more than 6,000 cell phones are lost at Walt Disney World per year. And it is estimated that about 100 pairs of glasses go missing every day.
With that many lost items, along with many others, you can see why the Lost and Found system was in need of an update.
Through Chargerback, there is now a form that you can fill out online so Cast Members can get a start looking for your lost item. You will get a Claim number and receive updates on the search. Of course, providing as much detail about your item as possible will help the search.
Which locations are included?
If you lost an item in any Walt Disney World theme park, Disney Springs, Transportation (including buses, monorails and watercraft), ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex or Disney Water Parks, this form is for you.
“What about Disney Resorts? How can I find Lost items left in the Resorts?”
If you lost anything in one of Walt Disney World’s Resorts, you will continue to contact that Resort’s Lobby Concierge for assistance.

How long are items left in the Lost in Found?
Unfortunately, so many items being lost on a daily basis, there has to be a time limit as to how long items can be kept before they’re no longer available to be retrieved.
Highly valuable items (such as wallets, purses, credit cards, prescription glasses and cameras) are held for 90 days.
Items of lesser value (such as sunglasses, hats, toys and clothes) are held for 30 days.
Because of the time limit set on lost items, the sooner you inquire about those items, the better the chance is that it can be returned.
Just lose your item?
I suggest checking that location’s Lost and Found Office periodically throughout the day. As items are retrieved, they show up at these locations before they are then transferred to a central Lost and Found. Filling out the online form,as well, since you will be contacted if your item has been found.
