There is so much going on in the Disney Parks these days, it’s hard to keep up at times. New Lands, new attractions, new hotels…Disney Imagineers are certainly keeping up with Walt’s dream to never let his parks be completely finished.
“Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world.”
“It’s something that will never be finished, something I can keep developing and adding to. [The park] will get more beautiful every year. And it will get better as I find out what the public likes.”
So, the biggest question on everyone’s minds is, “When will Galaxy’s Edge open?”
The Disneyland Resort will debut sometime in 2019 (I know…it’s still one year away) and Walt Disney World will open sometime after that. Sorry, I can’t get any more specific than that, at this time.

What will you experience in this new “Land”?
Galaxy’s Edge is set On The Planet Batuu, a remote outpost which proves now to be a safe haven for those who want to avoid the expanding reach of the First Order. You will see many familiar faces, including BB-8, Chewbacca, members of the First Order, and many others. Rex, the troublesome pilot, will take on a new role as the DJ at the cantina.
Food – Not much has been leaked as far as what kind of new foods and drinks we can expect in this new Land. In fact, only one drink has been announced and that’s the blue milk Luke Skywalker made famous in “Star Wars IV: A New Hope.”
New Attractions – A new attraction, whose name has not yet been released, will put you on a Star Destroyer. You will feel like you’re inside a hangar bay in the middle of a battle between the First Order and the Resistance. Imagineers are stating that this attraction is “built on a scale we’ve never been done before.”

Merchandise – Imagineers looked to markets in Istanbul and Marrakesh for inspiration for the new marketplace. You will be able to explore shops and merchant stalls, overseen by a Toydarian, for some fun toys and merchandise. If you’re curious as to what merchandise you will find in Galaxy’s Edge, you can check some out at select locations at the Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resort. These items were released in December and Star Wars fans can already find things such as men’s and women’s t-shirts and hats. They are featuring familiar faces and places, including the Star Wars : Galaxy’s Edge Logo, Millennium Falcon, BB-8, DJ Rex, and more…
Not going to be in the area? Shop Disney is also selling Galaxy’s Edge merchandise online, including a lanyard, a tumbler, and matted art that is all ready to be framed and hung on your wall. Make sure you check out their Current Promotions, Swagbucks, and Ebates for cash back before you click that Purchase button. Currently, Swagbucks is offering 2% Back and Ebates is offering 1% Back on purchases made online on Shop Disney.
View the Model! – If you’re reeeeeally curious to see what you can expect, a portion of Star Wars : Galaxy’s Edge can be seen on display at the end of Walt Disney Presents at Hollywood Studios. While you’re in there, learn a little bit about Walt Disney and view the model for the new Toy Story Land, also being built in Hollywood Studios and set to open this summer 2018.
So, that’s about all I have for you at the moment. If I find anything else out, I’ll be sure to pass on the information. Also, if you have pictures of the model and you’d like to share them, I’d really appreciate it.
