Vacation Planner Walt Disney World

Disney World…Day 1

September 13, 2017

Disney World, here we come!

Whenever I leave for vacation, I am always full of emotions. I always feel so sad that I’m leaving my fur babies, even though I know that they will be in good hands all week. We have the best friends. Who else would willingly agree to sleep at our house during the week so my blanket-stealing dachshund can have someone to sleep with? 😉

On the other hand, I also feel overly excited and walk around the house and counting down the hours until I step foot into the happiest place on earth. I mean, it’s Disney World…how can I not be excited?

And to think…it almost didn’t happen. If you read my post about our extremely long day of flights, then you’ll be happy to know that we finally have that all under control. We were looking at a 12 1/2 hour day with 4 layovers before finally reaching Orlando. It wouldn’t be fun, but at least we had a way to get there.  Then we heard the words, yet again, that no one leaving for vacation wants to hear, “your flight has been cancelled.” And the news just got worse as we were told that the earliest day we could get a flight out was Saturday. I couldn’t believe it. We were going to have to push our Vacation back. But, with so many other Disney guests doing the same thing, when would that be? Time off of work would have to be rescheduled. Planning fastpasses and Dining Reservations would begin again. We must have been sprinkled with some pixie dust as we decided to try one more time and to our surprise, we hit the jackpot…another direct flight to Orlando on Wednesday (our original day of arrival) Yay!! It’s later than our original flight, but at just 2 1/2 hours, I’m not complaining.

I will be checking in periodically during the week, but as you can imagine, I may not be able to get back to you right away. But, fear not, I will still be answering emails! The job of a Travel Agent is never over. I love it!

What can I expect as far as damage from Irma? Well, from what I am hearing from guests who were in the parks yesterday, you would never know that a hurricane went through the parks. You will notice some trees have been cut down, leaving behind their stumps, and less congested areas still have some broken tree limbs, but neither of these things take away from that Disney Magic. In fact, the biggest surprise that came out of all this is the fact that you can see EVERYTHING that is going on at Hollywood Studios. Usually there is a cute covering on the chain link fence surrounding the construction areas that will soon be Toy Story Land and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Well, cast members have had so much work to do, that they haven’t had a chance to put that covering back up, giving guests a full view of what is to come. I’m sure that by the time I get there, it will be covered up again, but it was a great sight for those who were able to see it.

We are getting everything packed up and ready to go, so have a great week! I can’t wait to share our trip with you!
