As a Member of the Houston Zoo, we get the occasional emails letting us know what is going on at the zoo. Imagine my surprise when I opened the latest email and it revealed that they had DOLE WHIP. We were so excited that we just had to go try it out.
Although there are many places to eat at the Houston Zoo, Dole Whip is only sold at the Herzstein Trading Post. It is listed on their menu as Dole Soft Serve, but I still accidentally asked for a Dole Whip and the cashier didn’t even try to correct me. Oops!
My boys were so excited, they started licking their treat before they even grabbed a spoon. It was so tasty and refreshing, especially in this heat!
Since we were already at the zoo, we decided to check out this year’s exhibit. We had heard that this year, there would be animals made completely out of LEGOS. We have some big LEGO fans in this house, so we were anxious to check it out. We were not disappointed.
They had these cute LEGO arrows all over the park, leading you to the beginning of the Exhibit.
To enter, you must purchase a separate ticket ($3.95 for Members and $19.95 will get Non-Members a Full Day Zoo Admission and Admission into Nature Connects. Children also get UNLIMITED rides on the carousel) You can find a small ticket booth conveniently located next to the Entrance of Nature Connects if you did not purchase a separate ticket at the Zoo Entrance.
The Lego Art was AMAZING! I was in awe over what these artists could do with something as small as a LEGO. I never would have been able to create something like this.
We were only there for a few hours before we started to see some rain. But, since we have our Membership, we didn’t mind too much. My family will be visiting us in a few weeks, so we know we will be back.
