I can not believe that it is time for Spring Break already. Where is the time going?
While I love the warmer weather that comes with Spring, I also get self conscious. Warmer weather comes shorts, tank tops, and (eek)…bathing suits.
If you’re like me, I tend to be more sedentary during the winter months, so it’s easier for me to put on a little weight. So, when it starts to warm up, I have a mini freak out just thinking about putting on a bathing suit.
I would try to lose weight, only to be frustrated at my lack of progress.
Then, but sheer coincidence, I found DietBet. There’s no special tricks. You just bet on yourself. You bet that you will lose weight. I started with Kickstarter. Kickstarters have 4 weeks to lose 4% of their body weight. If you succeed, you share the pot with all the other winners. Since it was my first bet, I chose one with the smallest amount to join. I paid my $10 and hoped for the best.
At the end of the month, I did my final weigh in (they require you to submit a picture of yourself and the scale readout before and after each Bet)…and I lost.
One thing I hate more than stepping on the scale to find out that I haven’t lost any weight is losing money, especially when I know that I could have prevented it.
I decided to do another Bet. I wanted to prove I could do it and win my money back. This time…I did it! I lost enough to make some money back.
So far, I’ve done a total of 6 DietBets. I have won 4 of those Bets and lost 15 pounds. It’s not easy and I have not won them all, but I’m still proud of what I have accomplished. I have started to move onto the $30 Bets if I feel especially motivated, but I still can not bring myself to pay for the $100 Bets. I’m sure the payout is great, but I’m not quite there yet.
