I recently used GetYourGuide for my latest trip to San Francisco. And after a quick, easy, and stress-free experience using them to get tickets to things I was going to do anyway, I decided to share my experience.
In this blog post, I explain what GetYourGuide is and how they helped transform my quick San Francisco getaway into a (less expensive) unforgettable adventure.

What is GetYourGuide?
GetYourGuide is a company that sells tours, attractions, excursions, and activities to many different places around the globe. According to their website, they offer more than 60,000 products in 150 countries, in 22 languages, and in 40 currencies.
Whether you’re looking for something to do over the weekend in your own city or you’re looking for an activity to do on your next vacation, chances are good that they’ll have some options for you.

Is GetYourGuide legit?
GetYourGuide is a 3rd party vendor. This means that they provide products or services on behalf of another company. They don’t have any say on how good or bad a tour is. They simply give you the options.
Depending on their contract with those companies, they may be able to give you a better price. But, as with all 3rd party vendor transactions, there is always some type of risk that you take when you decide not to buy directly through the company providing the service.
However, I am happy to say that I have not only used the company myself, I have recommended them to my Clients. And no one has ever had an issue with not being able to redeem their tickets or lost any money.
And for someone like myself, who risks my reputation on only providing products and services that will benefit my Clients, this is a huge deal.

Does GetYourGuide Save You Money?
The short answer is: it depends. Because they work with many different companies, sometimes they’re able to offer you a discount. Sometimes they can’t. It just depends on their contracts.
In terms of comparing them to other 3rd party vendors, like Viator, I have seen better prices with GetYourGuide. But, many times, they’re exactly the same price.
Keep in mind that prices do change frequently. But, for my latest trip to San Francisco, they did give me the best price for the same exact tickets I was going to buy anyway. In my case, it was a Hop-on Hop-off Big Bus Tour and entry to the Walt Disney Family Museum.
| Priced Individually | $90.70 per person |
| Go City – 2-attraction Explorer Pass | $74 per person |
| GetYourGuide – 2-attraction Explorer Pass | $66 per person |
The Go City 2-attraction Explorer Pass through GetYourGuide was $24.70 less than purchasing them on their own and $8 less than if I bought my ticket through Go City.
Since tickets to the Walt Disney Family Museum costs $25 on it’s own, I like to joke that I got to go to the Walt Disney Family Museum for free.
Because, let’s face it…I kinda did.

Are GetYourGuide Tickets Easy To Redeem?
They email you a clickable link to your tickets, as well as instructions on how to view them on their app. Keep in mind that if you choose a “pay later” option, your tickets won’t show until your credit card has been charged. But, you still get a confirmation email.
If you’re a Client, you’ll also receive a pdf copy of each tour in your itinerary, along with all of the other information you need to have a successful trip. And since it works offline, this typically replaces the need to download their app.
As for redeeming your tickets, I find the process very easy. It may seem simple. But, I appreciate the fact that I don’t have to fumble around the page to look for a confirmation number or QR code. I know that it will be on the top of each ticket.
When you’re the only person in line, as was the case for the bus tour and the Walt Disney Family Museum, knowing where they will have to scan means that check-in only takes 30 seconds.
So that, along with many other reasons, is why I continue to recommend GetYourGuide to friends, family, and Clients.
