Sutra – The #1 Coffee Alternative

March 29, 2018

If you’re tired of those coffee headaches when you miss that daily cup of coffee, but you’re still looking for that boost of energy to get you through the day, then you’re going to want to check out Sutra. Instead of caffeine, Sutra is loaded with Superfoods which are rich in vitamins, minerals, and nutrients.

Thanks to the individual packages, they’re super easy to prepare. All you need is a cup of hot water or Nutmilk and you’re all set. Because of the individual packaging, they’re the perfect size to bring to pack up and bring to work or on vacation. Most hotels have a coffee maker in the room, so there is no need to go wandering around trying to find a decent cup of coffee to wake you up.

Sutra comes in 2 different flavors:

Black

  • Made with cacao, red reishi, activated charcoal, cayenne, coconut milk, sea salt, cinnamon, vanilla, and stevia
  • Tastes like Hot Cocoa

Gold

  • Made with turmeric, ginger, maca powder, cayenne, coconut milk, sea salt, cinnamon, black pepper, vanilla, and stevia
  • Tastes like spicy chai latte

So, how did they taste?

I tried the Black first because…hello…hot cocoa… I like to use milk with my hot cocoa anyway, so I decided to mix it with my Almond Milk, since the instructions said I could use that. Believe it or not, it does taste like cocoa (except without the added sugar found in many powders out there). Yum!

After drinking Black, my boys and I packed up and spent the day walking around the Zoo. I don’t ever remember feeling tired or sluggish, despite all the walking around we did. I love that I was able to maintain my energy without the need for caffeine.

I’d like to try Black again using hot water instead of the Almond Milk to see which version I like better.

Admittedly, I was a little apprehensive about trying the Gold. I vaguely remember trying Chai Tea in the past and I was not a fan of it. Then again, I’m not a fan of Tea in general. Still, I told myself to keep an open mind because like other things I thought I wouldn’t like, it may turn up to be very tasty.

Unfortunately, I didn’t really get an opportunity to give it a fighting chance. Shortly after taking that first sip, the back of my throat started having a mild allergic reaction (Not to worry, a little bit of Benedryl and I was back to normal).

I feel bad for not being able to finish my cup in order to give an complete review of Gold. But, from the little amount that I did drink, I definitely remember the spiciness of it. Don’t let my experience deter you from trying it yourself. If you like spice and you like Chai, then this is one drink you will definitely want to try. Unfortunately for me and my throat, Gold is out.

Try Sutra for yourself and let us know what you think!
