Calling All Pirates…

November 5, 2017

Have a Pirate in the family? Disney World has you covered. There are so many things to do and see at Disney World that will have, even your littlest Pirate, busy all day long.

Where to stay

Caribbean Beach Resort

Did you know that the Caribbean Beach Resort has a Pirate room? From barrels to beds decorated like Pirate Ships, if your budget allows you to book this magical Moderate Resort, you’re in for a treat. Not many guests know that these rooms exist, so you will have great pictures to surprise your family and friends with when you return home.

Things to do

Pirate Adventure Cruises

Children, ages 4 to 12 years old, will set sail on a pirate adventure, following clues to discover buried treasure.  Your child will get a bandanna and board a pirate ship with Disney Cast Members for approximately 2 hours. At the end of their adventure, your little pirate enjoy a snack (such as goldfish crackers or pretzels) and a drink (such as water or a juice box). No adults allowed!

There are 3 adventures to choose from:

Disney’s Pirate Adventure
This pirate cruise treats kids to a reading of “The Legend of Gasparilla” – a real Florida pirate. You can find this adventure at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.

Islands of the Caribbean Pirate Cruise
On this cruise, children will hear the story of Old Port Royale and its pirate-laden past. This adventure departs from Caribbean Cay, a tropical island located in the middle of Barefoot Bay, at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort.

Albatross Treasure Cruise
Kids will hear “The Legend of the Albatross” and search for pirate booty across Crescent Lake and Epcot park’s World Showcase Lagoon. You can find this adventure at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort and Disney’s Beach Club Resort.

Cruises runs daily from 9:30-11:30 AM (weather permitting) at select Disney Resort hotels and must be reserved in advance. Call 407-WDW-PLAY or talk to your Disney Travel Agent to book reservations.

Captain Jack Sparrow’s Pirate Tutorial

This 25-minute Show, held in Adventureland near the Pirates of the Caribbean Ride, teaches your children what it takes to be a Pirate. Captain Jack, himself, chooses young “volunteers” to begin training like a Pirate. Learn the art of Sword Fighting and other Pirate duties. Only a handful of children will be chosen. If your child isn’t chosen to go up on stage right away, don’t worry, there is still a chance your child can get on stage. Towards the end of the show, additional children will be chosen to go up on stage to receive a Membership Scroll and to help Captain Jack and Mack say the Pirate Oath. Yo Ho, Yo Ho, a pirate’s life for me!

Pirates League

In order to act like a Pirate, you must first dress the part. Pirates League is a perfect way to turn any child into a Swashbuckling Pirate.

Pirates of the Caribbean

This ride is a classic. There is no height restriction, but be prepared for a dark ride with a small drop, which may be scary for some children. I was just 6 years old when I first went on Pirates. I loved it so much my dad brought me back on for a second time, but my sister, who was just 3 years old at the time, was terrified. Be sure to check out the Redheaded Wench before she’s transformed into a Pirate, herself.

Make sure you smile! Pirates of the Caribbean now has an on-ride photo op, just as you reach the drop!

A Pirates Adventure – Treasures of the Seven Seas

Complete at least 3 missions and you will receive an extra Fastpass+  for everyone in your party to ride Pirates of the Caribbean! For each mission completed, you’ll also receive a Treasure Finder collectible card. What is A Pirates Adventure? It is an interactive experience that takes about 10 – 20 minutes per mission to finish (there are 5 total). You can sign up at The Crow’s nest, which is located just past Pirates of the Caribbean inside Adventureland in Magic Kingdom. It does take time to get the free Fastpass+, but considering the time you will save by not waiting in line, it’s time well spent…and you get to have a fun time.

And just because I love my readers…here’s a Free Printable! So now, everyone can be an Honorary Pirate.
