A Travel Agent can be a great asset to you and your family, especially when it comes to planning your first Disney vacation.
However, sometimes we get so excited to help you make your dreams come true, that we forget to tell you even the most basic things.
What A Travel Agent Doesn’t Tell You (But Probably Should)
It really is free to book with a Travel Agent?
I’m sure you’ve heard that booking with a Travel Agent who specializes in Disney is free. But, is that really true?
Absolutely! Travel Agents who specialize in Disney doesn’t charge you extra for using their services.
Of course, we get commission for helping you plan your trip. But, your price doesn’t go up, just because you ask for our help.
This leads to the question, “If the prices are the same, why use a Travel Agent at all?”
When you use a Travel Agent, you get so much more than someone booking your vacation. Disney likes to call this The Disney Difference.
You get a wealth of knowledge of the place you’re visiting, along with personalized service, from someone who gets to know you and your family.
This means big savings on the very same package you already booked.
Because, trust me, you won’t save if you don’t know where to look.
But, it also means saving time by not having to Google or call Disney every time you have a question. We know exactly what you’re looking for, so we can give you personalized answers to your questions.
There are usually no discounts available for trips booked too far in advance
With all the planning that goes into Disney vacations, Guests want to start planning as soon as possible.
However, when you book far in advance, there will most likely be no discounts released for your time frame yet.
So, when you ask for a quote, you are given the full value price.
But, that doesn’t mean the price won’t go down. Even if you have already started making payments, when a deal is released, I will apply that discount.
And believe me, there will be a discount!
We do not get insulted if you want to book your own Fastpasses and Dining Reservations
While I can’t speak for everyone, I don’t know anyone who has a problem with this. It’s your vacation. You should be as involved or as hands off as you’d like.
And truth be told, I can’t get mad when I did the same thing when I booked my very first Disney vacation.
I was so lost at first. But, my wonderful Travel Agent helped me decide on the perfect Package for my family. She also applied the Free Dining Discount when it was released.
But, to be honest, I wanted to be the one who booked my Fastpasses and Dining Reservations. So, I emailed her if I had any questions. But, I did that part of the planning myself. And she was completely fine with that.
In reality, the only thing that your Travel Agent must do for you is apply payments and changes to your Package.
Other than that, your vacation is never out of your hands. You’re free to do whatever you please.
We don’t do this for the free vacations…because we don’t get any
Some think that with all the work we do for Disney, we get to go on Disney vacations for free.
Disney is good to us. And they do recognize us for our hard work. We may even get some perks every now and then. But, we certainly don’t vacation for free.
If you see us go to Disney a lot, it’s because we REALLY want to be there. So, when you’re booking your vacation, you can pretty much guarantee that you’re talking to someone whose passion really is all about Disney.
